No Court Appearance

If you do not wish to attend a court hearing to enter your final divorce or legal separation documents, file in Lincoln County, by mail.

The exception may be if you have children.  The court is required to search the Judicial Information System database (JIS) before entering your Parenting Plan.  If you are listed in the JIS database, the court may require you appear and provide an explanation before entering your Parenting Plan.

You can also obtain a divorce in Pierce County without a final court hearing.

You can obtain a divorce or legal separation in Davenport, Lincoln County, Washington, completely by mail.

With your completed documents, we will provide instructions on how to file and complete your divorce by mail.

No Requirement to Attend A Parenting Seminar

If you have children, Lincoln County does not require attendance at the Parenting Seminar (approx. $60 and up) before entering your Decree of Dissolution, Parenting Plan and Order of Child Support.

The Caveat to filing in Lincoln County is that if you ever need to modify these documents you will need to file the modification in Lincoln County, and maybe attend a hearing there, or transfer your case to another county, where you may be required to attend the Parenting Seminar before the court will enter your final modification documents.
